THE HIVE TO TABLE EXPERIENCE

Like Hawaii Island's sunshine showers, our seasonal tropical honey varietals are the essence of Hawaii's liquid gold. Naturally infused with the floral accents of the seasonal nectar flows of the eastern coastline and upper volcanic reaches, Pualani Bee Farmʻs raw honey delivers the warmth, aromatic complexity, and unique sweetness of tropical blossoms in every jar. The continually changing character of nectar flows on the east side of the island ensures that each harvest reflects the unique terroir of these volcanic lands—embodying the precise place, time, and geography in which the bees produce the honey.

Liquid honey

Throughout the year, Pualani Bee Farm's coastal honeybees produce the single-estate Tropical Wildflower Honey varietal--a "bees blend" of the diverse floral nectars that blossom at different times of the year in Wa'a Wa'a's ancient rainforests. Quintessentially rich in flavor and sweetness, this amber-colored honey is a classic, must-have Hawaiian wildflower honey unlike any other in the world. Each harvest carries different flavors and aromatic undertones that reflect the moment in which the honey is made.

Ohia Lehua blossoms

Our highland apiaries, located at about 1800 and 4000 feet above sea level in Kilauea volcano's Ohia Lehua rainforests, produce Eden's Nectar Premium Reserve Honey and Volcano Gold Premium Reserve Honey. Due to the wet and cooler upland weather, the bees take their sweet time foraging in the misty forests, yielding only two harvests a year of these highly-prized Lehua varietals. Our upland bees produce this exquisite "champagne" of raw Hawaiian honey by foraging primarily from the Ohia Lehua plant, an endemic native Hawaiian tree known for its brilliant pom-pom-like flowers. Lehua honey is considered to be one of the rarest honeys in the world and is highly valued for its subtle, yet unique sweetness, its quickly crystallizing velvety texture, and its ivory-colored honey.

In Hawaii, honeybees translate the rainbow of sunshine-filled flowers of the islands' diverse, abundant, and rich menu of plant life into colorful granules of bee pollen. From March to November, our bees produce a large surplus of this superfood, allowing us to sustainably collect fresh bee pollen without harming the health and well-being of the hive. Honeybees produce bee pollen by mixing the fine dust of foraged flower pollen from their local environment with nectar and bee secretions, thus forming protein-rich granules that they feed to honeybee larvae and queen bees. With over 250 biologically active nutritional substances, bee pollen includes a wide variety of amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, and antibiotics.

Besides the general nutritional value of bee pollen, researchers also recommend consuming bee pollen for numerous health benefits, including as supplements in fighting chronic diseases such as allergies, immune deficiencies, diabetes, and cancer. Consuming bee pollen is also known to lower heart risk factors, boost liver function, strengthen the immune system, reduce inflammation and swelling, kill bacteria, prevent infections, heal wounds, ease menopausal symptoms, and improve overall metabolism. For those with allergies, healthcare providers should be consulted about the safety, dosage, duration of use, and possible side effects of consuming bee pollen.

100% Unfiltered Hawaiian Propolis

Bees produce a natural substance, called propolis, also known as bee glue, from the sap and resinous parts of plants, such as needle-leaved trees or evergreens. They use this compound as a coating to build their hives, smooth out the internal walls, repair gaps or cracks in the hive, disinfect and insulate their hive, as well as to keep out external pests and invaders. For thousands of years, ancient civilizations around the world have obtained propolis from beehives for medicinal purposes. Today, researchers have identified propolis as having more than 300 compounds that include antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. The majority are polyphenols or antioxidants that fight disease and benefit the human body.

Research has shown that propolis can be effective in improving the effects of upper respiratory tract infections, common colds, sore throat, flu-like infections, wound healing, burns, acne, herpes simplex and herpes genitalis, neurodermatitis, diabetes, stomach ulcers, gingivitis, and inflammation, among others.

Rarely available in its pure straight-from-the-hive form, Pualani Bee Farm's natural, unfiltered propolis chunks can be processed into a variety of forms, as oral  powders, in tablet or capsule form, as liquid extracts, or applied topically in balms, salves, creams, ointments, lotions, and tinctures, Before using propolis or propolis derivative products, healthcare providers should be consulted about the proper dosage, method of extraction, interactions, and duration of use,

With each honey harvest, we extract small amounts of beeswax from the cut-away cappings of the honeycomb. At Pualani Bee Farm, we initially use a solar melter to melt down and filter out residual honey and hive debris from the raw beeswax. We then re-melt and re-filter the beeswax 1-2 more times before pouring it into decorative silicone molds that, when hardened, yield beautiful golden-yellow pucks weighing about 2 ounces each. These delightful pucks can be melted down to make candles, skincare products, body and lip balms, soaps, and more.
