OHIA LEHUA HONEY FROM THE NANAWALE FOREST

Available only in Hawaii, Ohia Lehua Honey is one of the world's rarest honey varietals and also the pride and joy of Big Island beekeepers. When freshly extracted from the honeycomb, Ohia Lehua Honey has a light buttery yellow color, a thick creamy consistency, and a subtle, floral sweetness. Within just weeks of harvesting, this honey naturally crystallizes from a buttery yellow liquid consistency into a thick, opaque cream-colored honey, making it a perfect spread on fresh toast and butter, with cheese and crackers, or eaten plain by the spoonful!

This year, Pualani Bee Farm has placed a few hives onto a small piece of our land located in the neighboring Nanawale Forest, which has grown out of an 1860 lava flow. The forest is now heavily covered with Ohia Lehua trees thus allowing our bees to produce this rare single-species honey varietal during the seasonal blossoming of the Ohia Lehua tree from May through July.
